Our Proven Solutions

We use the most durable primers, and are constantly testing new innovations that will deliver even greater results for the customer and the environment.

Some of the key things to consider in creating a “sustainably built” structure include: durability, reliability in service, good design and construction practices.

In many applications, timber and wood products need protection against things like mould, decay and insects.  This is how we can help you with this – we treat your timber with preservatives supplied by internationally renowned supplier, Koppers Performance Chemicals, in accordance with NZ, Australian, or other standards.

Our Treatment

LOSP Treatment

Protim Optimum, is a Light Organic Solvent Preservative (LOSP) that provides effective treatment against fungal decay, and insect attack.  A key benefit of LOSP treatment is that it causes minimal change in the moisture content or dimensions of the wood products. Examples of good uses for LOSP treatment include exterior joinery and mouldings, finger-jointed and laminated timber products.

Uses / Hazard classes

New Zealand –  H3.1 as per NZS3640. Provides protection of non-structural wood products exposed to the weather, and which are fully painted.  Product is above ground, not in ground contact. E.g Weatherboards.

Australia – H3 as per AS1604.1 for protection of general structural wood products above ground.

Treatment

We use a trusted international chemical supplier, and offer excellent technical support for all of our customers. While we treat timber, we assess it for heartwood, set target uptakes, and check these against actual uptakes.

All of our penetration/retention sampling tests are carried out by Treat Right 3rd party auditing, in accordance with the Treat Right Timber Treatment Program. This means that timber is treated to ensure long term durability.

Priming & Packaging

Lumber One use quality primers from proven manufacturers to prime our customers product to exacting standards.  Primer is the first (and sometimes second as well) coat of paint in a coating system.

It’s designed to temporarily protect the timber from weather and UV degradation during the construction.  Quality primer, and it’s effective application are crucial to the durability of a coating process.

We also provide packaging services, to customer specifications.
